So Long, Summer!

It seems like August and September has flow by. This year the VICNetwork team traded bikinis and Bermudas for sweaters and hot coffee and spent the summer months in our subzero climate-controlled offices while preparing to launch the new VICNetwork website and planning for our third webinar,  “Making the CASE for Vaccines: Communicating about Vaccine Safety” featuring Alison Singer.  This upcoming Thursday, September 23rd Alison Singer, the founder and fresident of the Autism Science Foundation (ASF), will discuss strategies for communicating vaccine safety information to parents and discuss new developments in the search for the causes of autism. Prior to her current position at ASF, Alison served as Executive Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors at Autism Speaks where she oversaw production of Autism Speaks’ documentary, “Autism Every Day”, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2007 and is used in schools across the country as a tool to teach educators about autism spectrum disorder. In addition, she oversaw all of Autism Speaks’ media relations activities and served as a spokesperson for the organization, appearing on Oprah, The Apprentice, NBC Nightly News, Good Morning America, CBS Early Show and many other news programs. In addition to the website and webinars, this past July we introduced our monthly newsletter, the Virtual Voice. Each issue compiles the latest news about healthy vaccine practices, information and tools on effective communication strategies for parents and practitioners, and provides links to upcoming events, conferences and online resources. Join the VICNetwork to receive the Virtual Voice as well as information about upcoming events, webinars and resources.

As summer seems further away and the nights grow cooler, we’re coming to terms with our paler than average complexion and looking forward to working together to share the best practices, information and communication strategies.
